This hits home so deeply, Tracy! I had never thought about the baby Facebook videos as a reflection of a human's innate need to control--but boy, that nails it. As I've gotten older I've become more and more aware of my own control freak tendencies. I'm trying very hard to curb them, put the addiction into remission. Thanks for these eye-opening words!

It’s funny that need to control things. Some do it on a much higher level with status and money. I resist it everytime in every little way I can but it can be exhausting. My refusal to stand in a circle to wait my turn to be checked got me delayed and fully searched. I don’t do well with orders being barked at me! I accept reasonable rules, ignore the ludicrous. However, with age or is it wisdom? I have learned to curve my tongue and keep my thoughts to myself.

I so feel you, Jilly! It’s a constant effort to keep myself in check but I feel myself getting very upset with others’ efforts to control me, like unnecessary, silly rules. Even people pulling in front of me in traffic or cutting line angers me. I am less likely to remain silent in these cases and I’ve often wondered if I might end up on the news. I suppose it’s folly to expect the same level of consideration from others that you are working so hard to extend to them. I think ridiculous rules bring out the worst in me and I think we should be vocal about them. Thanks for commenting and getting me thinking about resisting both controlling AND being controlled. I appreciate your taking time to read my post 🙏🏼🫶🏼😊

We have to choose our fights wisely my friend. Principles are important and so is our sanity. It’s all about a balance. We keep showing up and standing up. It’s all we can do
