I think you just pointed me in the direction of a past life. Sounds like fun.

It is fun…and kind of weird. My favorite part ws dragging out some of my favorite poems I haven’t read in a while. The weird part was trying to find something that makes sense! Hope you enjoy it! 🥰

I have never been a fan of poetry, until now. I may own a book of poetry, if Shell Silverstein counts.

Wow! Silverstein was incredibly versatile-interesting talent- I have familiarity with some of his work but did not know his name.

He had a couple of his books on CD. I loved to listen to him read. Deep, and lyrical. His Children’s stuff was clever, and fun, never talked down to them. He also wrote for Play Boy Magazine, I think it was. No idea what he wrote for them.

I find the old stuff to be better reading for me but Beth Kempton reads some really good poems in her online gatherings…could be also she just has a great voice for reading out loud too! I am not familiar with Silverstein- will have to look up.

It's good! The cento and title conjured up a nostalgic mood and a line from a 70's song I like popped into my mind -

"All I have is my love of love

And love is not loving"

"Soul Love" - David Bowie

Now I'll read the poems!

The lines you have gathered , work well together. I wonder, did you pull these lines from a memory?

These were all poems I was very familiar with but I did not have those particular lines memorized- I had in mind to use other lines from those poems that I did remember but they didn’t make sense together. It is rather tricky to create something that makes sense doing this, but fun. You should try it!! 🥰🤗

I'm tinkering with a couple of ideas, mostly just how I will gater lines. It's good to hear that memorization isn isn't really needed, but a few lines have been haunting my head today when I wasn't thinking. Funny how that works. Thank you.

Lucky it is only 10 lines! I juggled them around and changed them many times. I had to keep my mind open to changing the meaning because I couldn’t find just the right lines for what I wanted to say which was more of a traditional love poem. It’s a fun process- show me when you’re done! Or post it as a cento poem 😊

You could use lines from Silverstein’s different writings as a sort of homage to him - he was an amazing but not well known talent (at least I was not familiar with his name). Everything from Play Boy to children’s lit, I think he also wrote musical lyrics - might be interesting and fun for you and illuminating for readers like me to learn about him. 😊😊🫶🏼

I forgot Kipling, and O'Henry, and Mary Oliver, how could I have forgotten her, and Poe.
